Blue Marble and Beyond
A blog exploring earth, atmosphere, and astronomy.
About Me:
Hi! My name is Ruchita Patel and I’m a junior at Stanton College Preparatory High School. I’ve always been fascinated by the world around me, both the ground beneath our feet and the sky above our heads. I’m the type of person to stare at the rain, watching the drops hit the ground, or almost break my neck trying to bend my head back to look up at the stars. So naturally, Earth Science and Astronomy have found their way to me. One helps explain our environment and surroundings and the other helps explain our place in space and what else could be out there.
I started this blog to document my journey on learning more about these topics and to share this with other people as well. To do so, I’ve divided this blog into 3 main categories:
Earth: Topics such as geology, volcanoes, earthquakes, and other forces that shape our planet
Atmosphere: Weather, climate, hurricanes, and other phenomena in the all-encompassing sky
Astronomy: Stars, planets, blackholes, and everything beyond our very own blue marble
These categories aren’t extremely rigid and are just to help keep things organized, since both Earth Science and Astronomy can tend to be broad fields. So don’t be fooled, I still plan on writing about topics that don’t necessarily fit perfectly into just 1 of these 3 categroies!
Through this blog, I hope to share my own excitement on these topics, document my understandings, help condense and explain complex ideas, and maybe even inspire others to look at the world around them (whether below their feet or above the sky) with a little more wonder.
Hope you enjoy!
